What is a DTS?

A Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a six-month journey with God. For the first three months, you’ll learn, worship, pray, serve and live in community. Then you’ll take what you’ve learned into the nations during an international outreach.

DTS is about more than gaining knowledge. It’s about knowing God personally, growing in character, learning to hear His voice and discovering how you can make Him known.

A DTS is also the entry point for becoming YWAM staff or continuing your training with YWAM’s University of the Nations.

What does a DTS look like?

Lecture Phase

Your DTS begins with 12 weeks of learning and living together in Poortugaal, just outside Rotterdam. Each week focuses on a different topic and includes teaching, worship, intercession, small groups and practical service.

And you won’t stay inside the classroom. You’ll also get involved in evangelism and outreach in Rotterdam, putting what you learn into practice from the very beginning.

Outreach Phase

Then it’s time to go! During approximately 10–12 weeks of international outreach, you’ll put what you’ve learned into action in another part of the world.

You’ll serve people, share the Gospel, experience another culture and discover what it means to depend on God in completely new situations.

This is where “know God and make Him known” becomes very real.

Debrief

After outreach, we’ll take time together to look back at everything God has done and help you prepare for what comes next.

Maybe that means returning home with a new vision, continuing in missions, doing further training or even joining our pioneering team in Rotterdam. DTS isn’t the finish line — it could be the beginning of a whole new chapter.

Why Rotterdam?

Rotterdam is young, international and incredibly diverse — a city full of opportunities to meet people from all over the world.

During the lecture phase, you’ll live together in a beautiful monumental building in Poortugaal, just outside Rotterdam. It gives you the best of both worlds: space to build community and focus on God, while the city is close enough to put what you’re learning into practice.

We’re a small, pioneering YWAM location. That means you won’t disappear into a huge base. You’ll be part of a close-knit community where we learn, serve, take risks and discover together what God is doing.

Lecture Phase: €2,905 + €60 registration fee*
Outreach Phase: approximately €3,200–€3,800**

*Your application will be processed after we have received the registration fee.

**The final outreach cost depends largely on airfare and will be confirmed during the Lecture Phase.

Reduced fees for some nations
