General info
A Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a six-month experience. It is a journey to discover more about God and yourself and to be trained for full-time missions. The DTS also serves as the entry point into YWAM. To work fulltime with YWAM, or to start studying within the University of the Nations.
The Discipleship Training School was born out of both vision and a need. The vision is to see young people passionate about Jesus, going from every nation to every nation to make Him known. The need is to build a firm foundation of character, grow in knowledge of the Bible, receive training for local and international missions, and learn to cultivate a deeply intimate relationship with Jesus.
The DTS is a unique full-time program built around community rather than just a classroom. It is international and interdenominational by design, and includes a 10-week cross-cultural outreach.
Please note: You must be at least 17 years old (or have completed your country’s equivalent of secondary school) to participate in a DTS.

What does a DTS look like?
The Discipleship Training School is a life-changing journey with God! It begins with a 12-week Lecture Phase, followed by a 10- to 12-week Outreach Phase in another country.
Lecture Phase
During the Lecture Phase, you’ll dive into powerful topics such as: The Nature and Character of God, Holy Spirit, Biblical Worldview, Identity, Fear of the Lord, Hearing God’s Voice, Missions, and more! You’ll learn how to share the gospel, you’ll spend time in worship and intercession, you’ll join a small group, and you’ll serve practically in different ways—all while living together in community.
Outreach Phase
During the Outreach Phase, you’ll put into practice everything you’ve learned by serving in another part of the world. For about 10 weeks, you’ll impact lives by sharing the gospel and showing God’s Love in various ways. All with the goal of “Making God Known.”
Debrief
In the final two weeks, we’ll walk alongside you to help you process your experience and explore your next steps. Whether that’s serving in your home church, pursuing further missions training, or even joining YWAM Rotterdam as staff to help grow our pioneering location, together we’ll discern what God has in store for you next.
