A life-changing journey awaits you!
Embark on a 6-month Discipleship Training School that combines faith, adventure, and missions. Whether you’re looking to grow closer to God, develop new skills, or step out of your comfort zone: our program is designed for you.
General info
The DTS (Discipleship Training School) serves as the entry point into YWAM, providing an opportunity to be challenged to deepen your relationship with God and to be equipped for full-time missions.
The Discipleship Training School was born out of both vision and a need. The vision: to see young people passionate for Jesus going from every nation to every nation – preaching the Gospel, healing the sick, and proclaiming the Kingdom of God. The need: to build a firm foundation of character, grow in knowledge of the Bible, receive training for local and international missions, and cultivate a deeply intimate relationship with Jesus.
The DTS is a unique full-time program built around community rather than just a classroom. It is international and interdenominational by design, and includes a 10-week cross-cultural outreach.
Please note: You must be at least 17 years old (or have completed your country’s equivalent of secondary school) to participate in a DTS.
Discover topics like:
- The Nature and Character of God.
- Holy Spirit
- Biblical Worldview
- Identity
- Relationships
- Hearing God’s Voice
- Missions
What does a DTS look like?
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a 6-month, life-changing journey with God! It begins with a 12-week Lecture Phase, followed by a 10- to 12-week Outreach Phase in another country.
Lecture Phase
During these weeks, you’ll dive into powerful topics such as: The Nature and Character of God, Holy Spirit, Biblical Worldview, Identity, Fear of the Lord, Hearing God’s Voice, Missions, and more! You’ll learn how to share the gospel, spend time in worship and intercession, join a small group, and serve practically in different ways—all while living together in community.
Outreach Phase
In the Outreach Phase, you’ll put into practice everything you’ve learned by serving in another part of the world. For about 10 weeks, you’ll impact lives by sharing the gospel and showing God’s Love in action in various ways. All with the goal of “Making God Known.”
Debrief
In the final two weeks, we’ll walk alongside you to help you process your experience and explore your next steps. Whether that’s serving in your home church, pursuing further missions training, or even joining YWAM Rotterdam as staff to help grow our pioneering location, together we’ll discern what God has in store for you next.
About this DTS
This is an adventure DTS, because walking with God is the most incredible adventure you’ll ever live! He calls us to live extraordinary lives, to follow Him radically, and to go to the ends of the earth with the Gospel.
Even during the Lecture Phase, we’ll mix weekly teaching topics with adventurous activities such as abseiling (rappelling), mountain biking, and other sometimes challenging but fun activities.
Our vision is to see young people who wholeheartedly say “yes” to God and discover that living with Him is the most incredible journey of all.
Although our name reflects our connection to the nearby city of Rotterdam, the DTS takes place in the beautiful rural environment of Ouddorp. This is a village located near Brouwersdam, a renowned kitesurfing hotspot. In your free time, you’ll have the chance to enjoy water sports and outdoor activities (at an additional cost).
You’ll encounter God, grow in community, enjoy an adventurous lifestyle, and discover His heart for the nations!
